MEMORANDUM for NCNR users

From: Patrick Gallagher, Leader Research Facilities Operations

Subject:    After hours access to user shop

Effective immediately, the user machine shop in room E136 will only be available during normal working hours (i.e. between 7am and 5 pm). I am making this change to minimize the risks associated with performing shop work alone when the building is not fully staffed. The key to this room will no longer be available from the Control Room for after hours access. Please plan your shop work accordingly.

As before, the user shop facility is available for use only by properly trained staff whose name is on the shop access list. Shop privileges can be lost for unsafe practices, improper use of equipment, and failure to clean up and secure the work area. Appropriate attire is absolutely required for work in the shop area (approved safety glasses, NO loose garments, badges, jewelry, or hair styles that can be caught in rotating equipment, and no open-toe footwear). If you don't know what you are doing - STOP and seek assistance before proceeding.

All other shop areas in Building 235 are restricted to authorized personnel only and are not for general use.

Please contact George Baltic (x5682) if you have any questions regarding the use of the shops.
