CHRNS Guest Researchers

The mission of the Center for High Resolution Neutron Scattering (CHRNS) encompasses the development and operation of of-the-art neutron scattering instruments with broad applications in materials research, for use by the general scientific community and the development of neutron scattering expertise in the US. As part of this mission, graduate students, with the advice of their thesis advisor, are invited to propose a program of cooperative research to be carried out at the NIST Center for Neutron Research. This research should advance the student's educational goals in areas covered by CHRNS. Students whose proposals are successful would spend a period of 2-12 months as a guest researcher at NIST working with CHRNS scientists on their thesis project. While at NIST, successful students would continue to be supervised by their thesis advisor at their home institution. Funding for travel and local expenses will provided.

Proposal for cooperative research must be submitted through the NIST Small Grants Programs through which the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) accepts proposals for cooperative research to develop high resolution neutron scattering methods and applications in chemistry, biology and materials research.
